Word of the Year 2017

1/5/2017

I started having a Word of the Year in a particularly trying time in my life, and the habit stuck.  I find myself seeking the Lord the end of December, on what His word for me will be.

It's so very accurate and prophetic too!  If you used to follow us on the 4 little Ferguson's blog, you will remember these posts.  They still make me cry!

2013: RESTORATION

2014:  Balance

2015: Inwardly

2016: GUIDE
I wasn't blogging at the time, but our word for the year was GUIDE.  Boy, did the Lord guide us, as He spoke to use loudly in the sale of 3 big things in 3 days.  Even more so, as we took the leap, and sold our house and worldly goods to hit the road.

HELLO 2017, and finishing our second full year on the road.  What should our word be?  Show me, Lord!

I am thinking journey, travel, adventure, bold, bravery, courage.......ready to stretch myself as a leader and get myself out of the comfort zone I find so cozy, continuing to travel and explore.

I crack open my FAVORITE devotional, "Jesus Calling", and what do you know! The Lord has a message for me...A confirmation in fact!  :)
I LOVE how this devotional is written as if the Father Himself is speaking to YOU, His beloved!!!! AND the scriptures listed, get you digging in God's word, which is very important. I highly recommend it.  I got mine at Hobby Lobby on the sale rack, but saw them on Amazon too. I like the soft leather cover one I got!

Traveling, journey, adventure...becoming my one true self in Christ Jesus and also in my life and business.  WOW, it's all in there!  This was IT!!!!!

  So here it is:

The Word of the Year for 2017 is "Courageous Journey".

Moving beyond ME, and allowing me to be filled better with HIM, as we travel and grow.  The best things happen when we are uncomfortable. That is when we are stretched the most!

His power is made perfect in my WEAKNESSES, not my strengths.  Empty me of me, Father and fill me up with you, that I may overflow with love (and skittles and sunshine) to everyone I meet on our journey this year!

Ready, set, go.  Let's do this thing!

What's your Word of the Year?  I'd love for you to share!

(I always welcome your comments, they are so fun to read!) :)

Hey you guys,
What a blessing you all are! I am really attached to Matthew 6:33 this year. So my word for the year is "Seek" and I need to listen more. It's a work in progress and we're doing pretty good so far. I'm reading a daily devotion and reading something encouraging every night before I go to bed. We are working on less electronic and more spiritual/family time this year. I'm amazed at how God moved in your lives with your story. It's a great one.
I look forward to Seeking God's will for our lives this year.

Where do you get your (Jesus Calling) devotional?

What a beautiful word, seek, love that!
I found Jesus calling on the clearance rack at Hobby Lobby, but have now seen them on amazon too. It's my favorite I have ever read!

I like to look up the scriptures listed at the bottom too. The perfect little devotional time in God's word and an easy to love devotion format.

Blessings to you in 2017!

My word for 2015-2016 was surrender and the Lord continually brings me back to it so I think it will be a constant one for me. But for 2017 He gave me the word "new". I am praying that at the end of the year I can look back and see how I have trusted the Lord and to see how my thinking has been made new to think and walk in boldness as one who trusts the Lord. So maybe mine should really be "new trust"!

Pursue is my word for 2017. Pursue my Lord! A few years ago, you helped me more than you will ever know! I messaged you several times concerning a very difficult period in my marriage. Your wisdom guided me through a hard time!! Since then, my husband was baptized and gave his life to God! Together, we are pursuing our Lord!! Life is wonderful! Thank you for taking your time to write me! God has used your story to touch lives and make a difference!!

Oh my goodness! This made tears spring to my eyes. You have no idea how much it blesses me to know, that the darkest time in my life, my ugly....can be and is being used for the glory of our Father!!!!!!
I am so excited for you and I LOVE your word of the year! The BEST is yet to come, hallelujah!

My word for 2016 was full. I really didn't understand it until I asked for my word for 2017. In prayer he told me that he had chosen me to be a wife and a mother after I waited on him in prayer. I was a former single mom for nine years. Now I have been married for five years and we had a little boy. He told me he had hidden me and I was barren but now he had chosen me to be full! It makes a lot of sense because my life is filled with my two children and my husband.
But we have had some financial struggles and he said my word for 2017 was overflowing! He said I will have time and resources and blessing to overflow onto others. Something I daydream about 😀 I'm super excited for this new year! I have learned so much being broke and I will never take anything for granted and learn not to waste and live in excess of what I need .
